Astragal’s semantic boundary layer establishes the non‑negotiable floor beneath all model outputs. Before any AI‑generated content can interact with institutional systems, it is evaluated against deterministic semantic invariants that define what is allowed, valid, and safe within sovereign environments.

This layer prevents:

  • Semantically invalid mutations
  • Hallucinated constructs
  • Unauthorised state transitions
  • Domain‑unsafe interpretations

The invariants operate independently of model reasoning. They do not interpret intent — they enforce mathematical semantic correctness. If an output violates the boundary, Astragal terminates the flow instantly, ensuring that no malformed or unsafe content can propagate into national systems.

Mathematical Admissibility Gate

The admissibility gate performs sub‑millisecond mathematical checks at the execution boundary. Its role is to determine whether a proposed state transition is admissible, lawful, and deterministically safe before any action is allowed to proceed.

This gate enforces:

  • Strict sovereign operational constraints
  • Deterministic replay guarantees
  • Hard‑drop failure states for non‑compliant transitions
